I grew up in a big family in a small town in Michigan being the only child of a different skin color in the entire elementary school. An immigrant with limited English and an entirely different understanding of culture and economic class, I never felt a difference between me and my peers. I sensed the greater connection that goes beyond skin, culture, and language. Ever since that time,
Everybody’s Health Clinic is one of my dreams of helping others that began to surface in my life. I would consider it a life fulfilled if one day I could also end commercial sexual exploitation of children in Southeast Asia.

Rosalie Nguyen, PharmD

Executive Director, Founder

But I can only do what I do today, and that is working to make the best of Everybody’s Health Clinic to serve immigrants and other low-income individuals in my community.
I hold a B.S. degree in Biomedical Sciences from Western Michigan University and a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy from the University of Michigan. Other than spending time making small differences in people’s lives, I practice as a pharmacist and I am a proud mother of 3 little children. In leisure time, I enjoy playing with my children, taking walks, playing sports, listening

to audiobooks and music, and connecting with people. My philosophy is -- if you could help someone today, why wait until tomorrow? I’d like to share a quote that had been with me, although I don’t remember where I first heard it:

“Do not judge a man by what the world brings him, but rather by what he brings to the world.”

I grew up in Seattle, WA for most of my life. Became  a  Husky  at  the  University  of  Washington,  both  undergraduate  and medical  school.  Afterwards,  I  traveled  all  the  way  to  Portland,  OR  for  my  residency.  Enjoying  the  four  seasons that  the  Pacific  NW  has  to  offer,  I  returned  to  Seattle  to  practice  medicine.  I’m  currently  working  at  the  Veteran Affairs Hospital helping our servicemen.

After work, I enjoy photography,  travel,  exploring  new  restaurants/food,  catching  the  latest  movie,  and  time  with  friends  and family.

“I  believe  everyone  has  the  right  to  basic  healthcare, regardless of the ability to pay. It’s a small way I can give back to the community that’s helped me and my family when we were in need.”

I was born in Tacoma, Washington and graduated from Stadium High School in 1965. I went to the University of Puget Sound to receive my Bachelors in Public Administration. In US Navy, I served aboard the Nuclear Submarine USS Abraham Lincoln. I was with the Tacoma Police Department for 22 years, retiring as a Detective. Then I served 19 years with the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorneys Office and retired as the Chief Criminal Investigator.

I have 4 successful daughters and 6 wonderful grandchildren that make me proud. I am also very grateful for my wife of 47 years. Now that I am retired, my favorite activities are salmon fishing and woodworking. I enjoy helping people when the opportunity arises. Several years ago I was able to import 200 used computers into Mexico to help kids get started with online learning. It was an opportunity in which I was able to make a difference in a few lives.

“I was drawn to the idea of helping out with Everybody’s Health Clinic because there are human beings here that need some help and I would like to be part of it.”

Social Services

My family moved to Washington State when I was 17 years old. I graduated from Mt. I attended the University of Washington where I earned a B.A. in Social Welfare. I was born in South Vietnam after the Vietnam War, where I witnessed firsthand the financial and emotional crises of lives in turmoil. I developed my compassion and respect for others from these experiences.

Currently work at Tacoma Community College Library where for over 10 years I have served thousands of students and instructors. I also support the growth of information resources while broadening accessibility for an increasingly diverse campus. In my free time I enjoy traveling, shopping and spending time with my family.

“I believe that my academic and personal experiences would contribute to EHC’s mission to benefit the community.”

I feel grateful to have grown up in a small farming community in Idaho where people work hard and take pride in their efforts and community. When I moved to Washington State and became a registered nurse, I worked for several years with Pierce County’s at-risk populations. I also helped to establish nonprofit medical clinics, and worked for over six years as a private care manager for patients’ with complex care needs.

I currently work as a Personal Health Partner assisting to identify opportunities to continually improve patient care and services. As a certified care manager, I believe that patient care should be met through a multidisciplinary and holistic approach that addresses the whole person, medically, psychologically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

“I believe that EHC will be a significant asset to our growing Tacoma community. I am looking forward to using my experience and expertise to promote wellness and wellbeing in this community.”
